  • Almonds deliver vitamin E
  • Oranges and lemons are rich in vitamin C
  • Pure maple syrup and local raw honey are both full of antioxidants

RECIPE: immunity-boosting almond milk citrus-fizz

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups sparkling water
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • Juice of 4 oranges
  • Juice of 2 lemon
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or local raw honey
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 4 shaved orange or lemon peels (optional garnish)
  • 4 fresh mint sprigs (optional garnish)

    METHOD

Pour the juices of the orange and the lemon into a pitcher. Add the maple syrup (or honey) and vanilla extract. Stir until the maple syrup or honey is incorporated and the liquid is smooth. Pour in the almond milk.

Fill four cups with ice and pour the mixture halfway to the top. Immediately, before serving, fill up the rest of the cups with sparkling water. Garnish with a twisted orange or lemon peel and mint.

Serve right away to keep the bubbles from going flat.
